Sustainability & Responsibility

Sustainable laundry practices, operated at scale.

Across Taylors operations, we’re committed to embedding sustainable laundry practices and helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals.

Practical action.

Measurable progress.

Sustainability is not a standalone program. It's built into the way we operate. We continuously invest in technologies, processes and products that reduce resource consumption, minimise waste and improve operational efficiency. From lowering water and energy use in our laundries to extending textile life through circular economy initiatives, we are focused on measurable improvements that benefit our customers, our people and the environment. These efforts are underpinned by responsible sourcing, safe workplaces and transparent governance across New Zealand and Australia

Responsible resource use

Using water more efficiently.

Savings of more than 480 million litres of water per year have been realised through the introduction of Ecolab’s Blue Ocean™ Water Filtration System into our laundries.

Blue Ocean™ enhances the filtering, recycling and reuse of water used in the laundry. It reduces freshwater demand and fuel consumption in boilers and driers, by filtering process water down to 115 micron through a single step disk- filtration system. The filtered water can then be reused at a temperature between 25⁰ and 40⁰, generating both water and energy savings.

The Blue Ocean™ technology combined with low temperature washing and associated chemical formulae further reduces use of gas and electricity, manages pH levels and temperature of the waste water discharge, and increases the usable life of linen.

Environmental performance

Energy and emissions

Across our laundry operations we’ve invested more than $30m into energy efficient equipment to substantially reduce our energy and water usage, and to shrink our carbon footprint. Significant investment, along with close collaboration with our laundry equipment and product suppliers, combine to enhance the sustainability of our laundry facilities.

We leverage the expertise and R&D of our major suppliers, Ecolab, Kannegieser and Jensen, to continuously review and improve the efficacy of our practices. Annual strategic reviews with suppliers ensures currency of our operations with international industry initiatives and emerging technologies.

Ecolab also manages our chemical processes and titrates wash systems on a weekly basis to ensure our wash process meets all energy and quality goals.

Transport and logistics

Smarter Routes.
Lower Impact.

Collection and delivery are essential parts of a managed laundry service. Taylors actively reviews routes, load planning, delivery frequency and vehicle utilisation to reduce unnecessary travel while maintaining dependable service levels. By optimising par levels, inventory availability and delivery schedules, we help customers achieve the same operational outcomes with fewer deliveries, reducing transport-related emissions, fuel consumption and overall environmental footprint.

Fleet performance and lower-impact vehicle and fuel options are continually assessed as technology and operational requirements evolve, supporting a more efficient and sustainable supply chain.

Sustainability initiatives

Through managed supply, professional laundering, inspection, repair and end-of-life pathways, we help customers keep linen, garments and reusable products working for longer.

Our people

Creating opportunities. Building skills. Supporting communities.

People are at the heart of our business. Taylors provides safe, inclusive and supportive workplaces while creating employment pathways for individuals seeking to re-enter the workforce, including those experiencing long-term unemployment.

Through training, mentorship and career development opportunities, we help people build skills, confidence and long-term careers. These efforts are supported by a culture of respect, diversity and inclusion across New Zealand and Australia.
